Titanium lap-joint flanges are made from Grade 2 or Grade 5 titanium alloys having tensile strengths of 345 MPa and 860 MPa respectively. The two alloys also have corrosion resistance to seawater, acids, and oxidizing environments, with maintaining mechanical strength down to −250 °C. Stub-end/stainless steel backing construction provides leverage while still providing sealing performance.
